Neither Office ACCESS nor FilemakerPro have templates for collection management of artworks, though there are many products available on the WEB for commercial art galleries. I have been using such a commercial product for my digital collection of 30,000 works. However, it is no longer supported and I look out for an appropriate replacement for off-line desktop use.
I assume many research art historians have spent lots of time and energy to design and build up relational database management systems, never made available to others.
I would like to hear about their experiences or failures with ACCESS, FileMakerPro or other similar readily available software.
Has anybody used Office ACCESS or FilemakerPro for artworks?

If I recall correctly, the Visual Resources Center at the University of Chicago uses FileMakerPro to manage the metadata (http://core.vraweb.org) for its in-house image collection.

Thank you very much. Visual Resources Association publishes 'VRA Core’s schemas and documentation'. I will explore.
