Hello everybody,
I am seeking information on the use of Concordance and Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count software on American Civil War letters available at the Cook Center, Corsicana, Tx. I also would like to explore the Talbot Correspondence project online. Would anybody know of publications addressing content analysis of historical letters?

These aren't exactly readings, but you may find a way to get started quickly on this project by examining the text analysis tools listed on the DiRT wiki:

Do you have a dataset of electronic versions of the text from the letters? If not, phase one of your project might be to perform some web scraping (visiting pages manually or automatically and extracting the relevant content). If you need help with that, please post some URLs of sites/pages that seem most promising for what you need.
