If your DH program provides drop-in help or consultation services to scholars, what questions are you asked most frequently? I ask because we're working on providing these services and, though we know we'll be surprised no matter what, we'd like to be prepared for these questions with some go-to tools.
Based on conversations with our faculty and students, I've compiled the following list. What else should I have on my radar?
(For the time being, I'm excluding questions about how to publish a website, though I know that will be huge.)
1. I have an Excel spreadsheet of data and I want to visualize it somehow.
2. I want to create a timeline.
3. I want to map a bunch of locations.
4. I want to create an e-book to read on my iPad.
5. I want to create a multimedia book to read on my iPad.
6. I want to create a 3D rendering of an old building.
7. I want to create a keyword-searchable collection of old letters (or manuscripts, or whatever).
8. I want to map locations, but on a historic map.
9. I want to create an interactive map for iOS, with information tied to locations.
10. I want to create a podcast.
11. I want to create a video podcast.
12. I want to put my presentation on the Web.
13. I want to put my presentation on the Web, with audio.
14. I want to create a wiki.
