Any DHers have homegrown controlled vocabularies for metadata? Or CVs that they didn't invent, but manage in-house? Do you have software for that? What is it?

I'll second Patrick on Protege. The interface isn't the most intuitive, but it's really well documented. If you can make a pizza, you can use Protege.
Can you give us a few more details on what you're trying to do/using the controlled vocab for?

I'm not entirely sure, as this is a secondhand question, but I'm going to throw Protege at them and see what happens! Many thanks; I had no idea that existed. (Bad librarian! Bad!)
