Interactive Tutorials about Digitisation?

Hi Folks,

You'll have seen by now the interactive tutorials that we developed for the TEI: TEI By Example http://www.teibyexample.org.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any interactive tutorials about the digitisation process, which supply some interactive methods to test people's knowledge, online?

There are some good tutorials out there, such as the Cornell Digital Imaging Tutorial
http://www.library.cornell.edu/preservation/tutorial/contents.html
but its very "old school" web tutorial - there are no exercises, quizzes, and no real use of multimedia. Anyone know of anything out there that allows the user to interact as they learn about digitisation?

I can say that we considered creating an online, interactive version of our scanning helpsheet at the Scholars' Lab (here it is, in PDF format) and ultimately decided -- since software gets updated so frequently and, for our local needs, people seemed to prefer keeping a hard copy at hand -- that it'd be less hassle just to produce a simple, printable version.

Of course, our helpsheet is just about the scanning process. UVa Library also has a LibGuide for our community digitization standards -- minimal requirements for deposit of digitized text, audio, and image, and accomanying metadata. But this, too, isn't terribly interactive.

I'd be interested to hear what others are doing, or if anybody knows of an online tutorial like you describe!

Melissa, have you looked at CHIN's resources? They have a lot of guides that are tagged with digitization. I'm not familiar with all of them, but they generally produce really helpful materials: http://www.pro.rcip-chin.gc.ca/index-eng.jsp?Ne=8109&N=8109&Ns=p_Publish+Date|1

Thanks Bethany and Sheila. I'm toying with the idea of doing one myself... (concepts like resolution, for example, and compression, could be explained interactively...) but we'll see. I am a glutton for punishment.

These resources are both very helpful, tho!
